My husband has made it a point to sit down and watch the entire series with me, starting with season 1. I’ll admit, it took a while for me to warm up to the show and the first couple of seasons nearly felt like work. However, the show noticeably found its legs by the end of season 2 and I was hooked.
Shout out to David Gian-Cursio for supplying the details for the gate!

The finished product! Pencils on cartridge paper, ranging from 2H pencils for the outlines to 8B pencils for the shadows.
Vainly attempted to draw the whole thing freehand. Traced the original circle around a dinner plate, but after trying and failing to draw the inner rings freehand (and not being able to find plates of varying diameters), I popped over to the store and bought a compass, something I hadn’t touched since secondary school.
Below are a few progress shots. Apologies for the varying light quality! My phone is sshhh and the white balancing isn’t the best. (Also couldn’t be bothered to fix it in post.)

Bonus shot below! I drew a portion of a gate before attempting this baby, and found the whole process so therapeutic I decided to eschew going home and went big instead.
