Residential Studio: Bridge and Compact Student House

Dip.Arch

Pedestrian Bridge_Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Bridge: Concept
Bridge: Walkway
Bridge: Joint

Spanning 12 metres, the bridge was designed to be made entirely of bamboo tied together with jute. This allowed for more focus on form and structure. Inspired by the form of the human spine, the dynamics of the rotated frames create flow and movement, offering pedestrians a more exciting experience as they cross the bridge.

Located between two three-storey shoplots, a compact house was designed to accommodate one student. Drawing from the idea of bridges and their curved structure, the supports for the house were bent I-beams anchored to the buildings on either side of it.
